hello there, i'm new here... i'm a big carpenter fan, my first exposure to him being through "halloween" and "big trouble in little china" when i was just a wee tyke. underrated director, someone needs to get him working again! i nearly cried when the rumors of "escape from earth" turned out to be b.s., although i've read some unsubstantiated rumors on message boards of him possibly directing the "metal gear" film adaptation, which is a bit of a long shot i would say, but it would be unbelievably awesome if it were indeed true.

anyway, i'm glad there's a community dedicated to the man, and in his honor, i'd like to post this picture a friend of mine recently showed me. it's not the best photoshop job in the world, but i got a kick out of it, regardless!

let me know if i need to put this behind a cut, i figured it might be okay since it's not too big, but if it's against the rules, i'll happily oblige!

I got this from www.wrestlewire.com

GCW sent this in: To confirm - YES - the Expo is postponed - Roddy Piper is unable to make it on Wednesday because he is filming a movie with John Carpenter ( They Live 2 ? ) and therefore will not be able to make it up until Friday - SO - what we are doing is still bringing him up - BUT he will be in TORONTO instead. Here is the new info: GCW is proud to present ROWDY RODDY PIPER at FANEXPO 2006 - SEPT. 1 - 3 - METRO TORONTO CONVENTION CENTRE.</p>

Does anyone have any idea what John is working on? Could it be They Live 2?

The 13th Apostle

Late last year a film project came rolling out called The 13th Apostle with John Carpenter's name attached to it as director from the very beginning. Though he told Fangoria back in October that the film was on hold, it seems some movement has been made recently that may mean the movie is about to become a reality.

A reader named simply "Tump" dropped us a line with the heads-up that over on the German site Blair Witch.de, news just came in that Concorde Films has picked up the rights to The 13th Apostle for the country, a good sign that the project still has some life left in it. The site for Inferno Distribution, who was originally announced as distributors for the project, still has it listed as "in development" as well, and a recent bit in Variety announcing the film version of the manga Wicked City makes mention that Stallion Films, attached as one of the production companies on both, is still working on it too.

While none of this is solid proof of the film actually happening, it does point to potential good news regarding Carpenter getting behind the camera again for his first feature since Ghosts of Mars. As you may remember, Carpenter’s set to direct his next Masters of Horror episode, "Pro Life", within the next few weeks, working from a script by "Cigarette Burns" writers Scott Swan and Drew McWeeny. From IMDb

A ninth Halloween movie is being planned - as a prequel to the cult horror franchise. Plans to make Halloween: The Missing Years were shelved when producer Moustapha Akkad died in last year's terrorist attacks in Jordan, but writer Jake Wade Wall has confirmed to moviehole.net that the series is back on. Wall tells the site that the prequel will focus on the life of serial killer Michael Myers as a young man, before he was placed in a mental institution. Wall says, "I've been hired three different times for it (the film)... It looks like it's finally set to go. I know that they're (studio executives) in the process of nailing down a really big director but I haven't been able to figure out who it is yet."
